LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The two-year course of High Fashion Design provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge in order to be able to create models and design clothing collections, taking into account the trends and wearability.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to create their own prêt-à-porter and haute couture collection, starting from sketches and reaching the complete realization of models. During the first year of the course the basic principles of female patters are studied extensively in order to be able to create the Fancy Models. During the styling classes we will analyze various patterns within the fashion industry as well as study the current and upcoming trends (cool hunting) in order to train the future designer to think at the proper timing that the fashion industry demands. Various seminars and workshops with expert illustrators will be carried out in the Fashion Illustration course to enrich the student’s knowledge in the field. The objective is to face the fashion world with the right instruments, therefore the History of Costume will be broadly studied with the reference to all the new trends that look to the past along with the analysis and study of different types of fabrics and their processing.
This year will start a new course of Language of Fashion. Its aim is to teach the use of the fashion terms properly in order to be proficient and maintain a professional manner regarding job interviews, presentation of their collections and writing articles in specialized magazines. We will study texts of ancient and modern fashion and carry out exams of journalistic writing. The best articles will be published in newspapers and magazines.
The coursework is composed of two main modules: the sartorial method and the industrial method, where the garments will be cut and tailored according to the highest fashion standards.
